I have struggled with my weight and body image my entire life. I was never "big" but I was never as small as my sister (who BTW has a crazy metabolism!), or my friends, I was never athletic as my friends, and over all I was never happy with myself... EVER.
Then about 3- 3 1/2 years ago I found an amazing man, had a great job, overall I was in a great place in my life. At this time I also became really interested in getting fit, working out and running. I joined a gym, went religiously, and joined Team In Training (TNT) to run a half marathon and raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society- A cause that hits very close to home. I started to care more about how I looked, how I felt, and how I ate. But, I never could really figure out what I needed to do though. I was in pretty good shape, running and doing strength training, eating.... OK... but after my race I fell off track time and time and time again.
Every time I thought I figured out what I needed to do to get my fitness and nutrition in check I would run home and tell the hunny and it was always "Yeah, yeah Ok- we'll see how long this one lasts". He always put up with my crazy eating and recipes, and ate what I made even if it wasn't so good. But, I wasn't happy, I WASN'T healthy and I just could not commit to anything for long periods of time. And, although I knew the hunny loved me and put up with my crazy antics, I don't really think he was super supportive of anything I was trying, and I determined that is where I kept falling off course-lack of support!
Then this AMAZING lady came back into my life. A friend of mine who moved away and we lost touch. We had been through A LOT together and have one of those friendships you can pick back up 3,4,18 months down the road like nothing has ever changed. She was happy, in love, had a brand new bundle of joy and darn it looked AMAZING. She had posted something about being a beachbody coach and starting a 21 Day Fix fitness challenge group on her facebook page. And being one for trying anything was up for the challenge. I ordered the package, joined the challenge group, and went on with starting this challenge group.
I got all geared up, bought a new set of weights, an extra set of work out clothes, read through all my material and...dun dun dun... told the hunny about it. Again, I got the "OK babe, we'll see how long you stick with this one"... It got me down for a split second... then I remembered my great friend I had back in my life, these new friends in my challenge group that were right there with me in this and remembered even if I didn't have his support I had theirs- and 90% of them didn't even know who I was.
SO on to the next step- meal planning! This is where I never really stayed on track before. I would plan out and count calories and become obsessed with it and get discouraged and fall off track... But this was SO EASY and SO MUCH FOOD!! See those little containers in the picture? Well in the nutrition guide Autumn tells you about how many calories you should take in and breaks it down into how many of each of those containers you should have (Red-Protein, Green-veggies, Purple- fruits, Yellow-Carbs, Blue- Healthy fats and cheeses, Orange- seeds and oils) Easy peasy lemon squeezy! There are times where I cannot eat everything I plan for the day! The best part is you don't have to count the calories and you aren't limited to anything- whatever fits in the container you can eat. However, CLEAN eating is encouraged! (that's another topic to come)
The workouts- Phenomenal! 1 (or if you are me 2 at times) 30 minute workout a day and you're done! Normally I'm that girl who hits the snooze button about 6 times before she gets up- GIVE ME MY SLEEP. Not anymore! Half the time I am up before my alarm ready and rearing to go to get my work out in. Then I come home and want to do another one or take the dog on a RUN! None of the moves are too difficult, and though they are intense workouts they can be modified to fit your fitness level. I know what you're thinking- they all say that. But this is true! I started out thinking it would kick my butt, but when I successfully made it through the first work out I went back for more and I stuck with it for the full 21 days and I am going back for round 2!
I feel 100 times better eating CLEAN and training MEAN... and because of it... I'm starting to become LEAN for the first time ever... Don't believe me?? Check this out:
The first set of pictures are my good bye pictures.. I was 145 lbs- The 2nd set are at the end of my first round of 21 Day Fix. Weight was 137.5 lbs BUT I had lost a total of 12 inches off my body simply by doing a 30 minute work out every morning, eating correct portions, and CLEANing up my eating!
I loved my results and I am going for round 2-- AS A BEACHBODY COACH!!!
