It's all new to me :)

I have so MANY things in my life that are changing, that are amazing, and that I am passionate about. So I thought I'd try my hand at blogging. I decided I wanted to share my thoughts, feelings, accomplishments, and great things I find with anyone who is willing to listen. So why not start a blog right?

First, a little about me. I am a 20 something year old Special Education Teacher living in small town Iowa out in the boondocks of nowhere- and loving it! My hunky hunny and I were blessed to come across an AMAZING property in the country with more blessings presenting themselves on literally a daily basis. Everything from an established orchard to wild berry patches to a ridiculously large garden to a pond, and timber, and the list goes on.

With this new property came a BIG move for me. Leaving an amazing Special Education job in Cedar Rapids in a fantastic district with equally fantastic co-workers and friends, leaving a 2nd job with a disability service agency where I was blessed with amazing clients and families for the past 10 years that have added SO MUCH to my life (no worries I still stay in contact with them!), and leaving my adorable little starter home that I was so incredibly in LOVE with. However.....
I think this place just may be worth it!

I'm becoming more and more thankful every single day for this move. It hasn't been easy for us with many challenges being put before us with purchasing the property, fixing up the property, remodeling the house. It certainly has not been an easy move for ME inparticular as this was NEVER part of my life plan. Moving to the country, being so far away from the conveniences of a bigger city, being  3 hours away from all my family and friends;  but it's worth it to get back to the simpler things in life and waking up to the love of my life every. single. morning.

See that front porch?? A lot of thinking (and procrastinating) has happened on that porch. God brought this man, this property, this job, these challenges, this move to me. To make me stronger, to make me happier, to make me see how blessed I really am in life. I have no doubt in my mind that this is where I am supposed to be now and for the rest of my life. I'm taking in every moment, every challenge, and every change; not necessarily gracefully at all times; but definitely with an open heart, an open mind, and making sure I remind myself of all the blessings that surround me on a daily basis.

Ok- Pretty deep for my first blog- but it gets a basis of where I am right now. I have many more passions and blessings that I cannot wait to share with everyone! I am passionate about teaching, about individuals with different abilities, about food, health, and fitness, about becoming more self sufficient off of this amazing property we have, and about life in general. Hopefully this will be a place I can share about all of that!
